Marketing 2027: 11 digital marketing trends and predictions

Just a few years ago, the digital marketing formula seemed relatively stable: SEO helped businesses reach the first page of Google, Google Ads generated immediate demand, social media built audiences, and websites converted visitors into customers.

None of these disciplines will disappear in 2027. What will change is how they work together.

Google is becoming an AI-driven search environment. People are using ChatGPT and other AI assistants to research products and services. Advertising platforms are making more decisions themselves. Meanwhile, generative AI can create copy, visuals, analysis and advertising assets in minutes - work that once took hours or days.

In 2027, creating marketing will be easier than ever. Becoming visible will be harder.

Juice Digital Agency analysed changes in Google Search and advertising products, industry research, and what leading practitioners are saying about the future of marketing. Here are 11 trends we believe will have the greatest impact on digital marketing in 2027.

1. Google Will No Longer Be Just a Search Engine

Google Search is evolving from a list of links into an environment where AI can explain, compare and summarise information and help users make decisions immediately.

The traditional journey was:

  1. keyword
  2. Google results
  3. website
  4. information
  5. choice

In 2027, it may increasingly look like this:

  1. question
  2. AI answer
  3. comparison
  4. follow-up question
  5. selected sources
  6. choice

A company is no longer competing only for one of ten organic results. It is also competing for the chance to become a source or brand that AI uses when constructing an answer.

Kieran Flanagan, HubSpot SVP Agentic GTM & Systems and former CMO, predicts that AI assistants could become the starting point for a significant share of B2B buying journeys. This is an expert forecast rather than current market statistics, but the direction matters.

2. Google Rankings Will No Longer Be Enough as an SEO Metric

For years, SEO was relatively straightforward to measure: ranking → click → organic traffic → conversion.

AI answers introduce another layer between ranking and click. This can create a situation where Google shows a company more often while clicks do not increase at the same rate.

What We See in Our Own Data

In recent months, Juice Digital Agency has been working simultaneously on technical SEO, topical content clusters, external publications and backlinks. In our Google Search Console data for the latest 28 days compared with the previous 28 days:

  • clicks increased from **117 to 152 (+29.9%)**;
  • impressions increased from **18.1K to 21.9K (+21%)**;
  • average position improved from **24.2 to 20.3**.

Some commercial queries moved even faster. For example, mārketinga aģentūra moved from approximately position 15.6 to 6.6 during the period.

That is why in 2027 we would look beyond rankings and traffic to: Search visibility + AI visibility + brand search + citations + qualified traffic + leads + revenue.

The question "What position are we in on Google?" will be joined by another: "How visible is our company across the entire Search and AI ecosystem?"

3. SEO Will Not Disappear. GEO and AEO Will Join It

In 2026, marketers increasingly hear: SEO - Search Engine Optimization, AEO - Answer Engine Optimization, GEO - Generative Engine Optimization. The terminology may still change. The principle matters more.

Traditional SEO helps a search engine find and understand a page. In the AI era, information must also be clear and trustworthy enough for a system to understand what a company is, what it offers, where it operates, what expertise it has and which sources confirm it.

We therefore expect SEO to gradually become part of a broader Search & AI Visibility discipline.

GEO is not a replacement for SEO. If Google cannot crawl a page correctly, the content is weak and the company structure is unclear, simply adding the word "GEO" to a strategy will solve nothing.

4. Backlinks Will Become Part of a Broader Reputation System

The value of backlinks should not be viewed only through DR or link volume. When media outlets, industry publications, partners and other independent sources discuss a company, they create a layer of mutually reinforcing information online. This helps systems understand whether the company exists, what it does, which topics it is associated with and whether other sources validate its expertise.

So our prediction for 2027 is not "collect as many backlinks as possible." It is: build more high-quality, contextually relevant signals about your brand outside your own website. SEO, digital PR and brand building will increasingly overlap.

5. AI Content Alone Will Stop Being an Advantage

If any company can create an article, ad copy, presentation, social post, visual or video in minutes, the ability to produce content becomes less valuable by itself.

Our content marketing formula for 2027 is therefore: AI helps create. People provide perspective. Data provides proof. The brand provides identity.

AI can summarise what already exists online. It is much harder to copy your own data, experience, client cases, experiments, mistakes, opinions and conclusions.

6. The More AI We Have, the More Important the Brand Becomes

Imagine the market in 2027. Ten competitors all have access to ChatGPT. They can all generate good copy, create visuals, analyse competitors and automate email. What remains? The reason to choose one of them.

Branding may therefore become not less, but more important. AI reduces the advantage of execution. It increases the value of positioning, reputation, creativity, recognition and trust.

If everyone can create a "good" ad, the advantage goes to the company whose ad people remember. If everyone can write a "good" article, the advantage goes to the source people trust. If everyone uses similar AI, the advantage goes to the company with a point of view of its own.

7. Google Ads Will Become Even Less Manual

In Google Ads Search campaigns, more decisions are being automated: matching, bidding, creative combinations and landing-page selection increasingly rely on machine learning. AI Max is a clear example of this direction.

Manual button-pushing becomes less valuable. Accurate conversion data, business goals, the offer, creative, landing pages, first-party data and the ability to recognise when the algorithm is optimising for the wrong outcome become more valuable.

We covered this direction in more detail in our Google Ads AI Max 2026 guide.

8. We Will Move From "AI Tools" to AI Systems

A common question in 2026 is: "Which AI tool should we use?" In 2027, a more important question will be: "Which process can AI perform or improve?"

A company can use ChatGPT once a week to write a Facebook post. Or it can build a process in which AI:

  1. analyses data every morning
  2. identifies a problem
  3. compares it with the previous period
  4. prepares priorities
  5. hands them to a person for a decision

In the second case, AI is no longer merely a "tool". It becomes infrastructure.

9. An AI Agent May Become a New Intermediary Between the Customer and the Company

Today, a person typically: searches → opens websites → compares → chooses. In the future, they may delegate part of that work to AI. For example:

Find three digital marketing agencies in Riga with experience in SEO and Google Ads. Compare their services, reputation and projects, and recommend the best fit.

In that world, a company must be understandable not only to a person. It must also be machine-readable. AI needs to determine what you offer, to whom, where, what experience you have and why you can be trusted.

10. The Website Will Not Disappear - It Will Become the Company's Digital Source of Truth

A 2027 website must clearly explain to both people and digital systems:

  • who the company is;
  • which services it offers;
  • who those services are for;
  • where the company operates;
  • what experience it has;
  • which projects prove that experience;
  • what others say about it;
  • how to become a customer.

A website will increasingly be more than a digital brochure. It will become the company's information + reputation + conversion + data infrastructure.

11. A Marketer's Value Will Shift From Execution to Judgement

AI will be able to do more and more. That is exactly why the person who can decide what is worth doing in the first place becomes more important. In 2027, the more valuable specialist will be the one who can:

  1. identify the problem
  2. select the right data
  3. form a hypothesis
  4. use AI
  5. validate the result
  6. make a business decision

AI does not reduce the need to think. It increases the value of good thinking.

What Should a Company Do Before 2027?

  1. 1.Check Google indexing. Are important pages indexed, is the sitemap working, and are robots.txt or noindex blocking anything?
  2. 2.Check non-brand visibility. Do people find the company only by name, or also by the services it provides?
  3. 3.Set up Google Search Console and GA4 properly. Without data, it is impossible to know what is actually growing.
  4. 4.Build topical authority. Instead of publishing one random SEO article, create connected content around the company's core expertise.
  5. 5.Create information competitors cannot simply copy. Use your own data, case studies, experiments, opinions and experience.
  6. 6.Build authority outside your website. PR, industry publications, partnerships, high-quality mentions and backlinks.
  7. 7.Check what AI knows about you. Ask AI tools the questions a potential customer might ask about your industry.
  8. 8.Fix conversion tracking. AI optimisation is only as good as the data you feed it.
  9. 9.Automate one real process. Choose one repeatable marketing task and reduce its manual component.
  10. 10.Start measuring business outcomes. Not only impressions, traffic and likes, but qualified leads, customers and revenue.

2027 Marketing Readiness Check

Give your company 1 point for every "yes".

  • Google indexes all important pages
  • GSC and GA4 are correctly configured
  • Real conversions are measured
  • The company is visible for non-brand commercial queries
  • Expert content exists around the main business topics
  • There are high-quality external mentions and backlinks
  • The website clearly explains services, market and expertise
  • AI systems can accurately describe the company
  • The company uses first-party data
  • At least one marketing process is systematically improved with AI

0-3 points - the foundation is not ready yet. Start with technical SEO, analytics, conversion tracking and a clear website structure.

4-7 points - a solid foundation. The next step is topical authority, external reputation, AI visibility and process automation.

8-10 points - you are already building the marketing infrastructure for 2027. The focus shifts from adopting tools to optimisation, data quality and competitive advantage.

So What Will Marketing Actually Look Like in 2027?

AI will make mediocre marketing extremely easy to produce. That is exactly why good marketing will become more valuable.

Companies will have access to similar AI models, advertising platforms, analytics tools and automation capabilities. The difference will come from what cannot be switched on with a single button: strategy, brand, reputation, data, experience, creativity and the ability to make better decisions than competitors.

From the Juice Digital Agency perspective, marketing in 2027 will not be a battle between people and AI. It will be competition between companies that simply use AI and companies that have used AI to build a better marketing system.

SEO will not disappear. Google Ads will not disappear. Websites will not disappear. Brands will not disappear. But the boundaries between these disciplines will become increasingly blurred.

"How do we become a company that people, Google and AI systems can find, understand, remember and choose?" The work does not need to begin in 2027. It has already begun.

Frequently asked questions
